I believe the phrase is "4 down, 12 to go". Actually at the time of the recording it's 5 down 11 to go, and the time of the release it's 6 down 10 to go. But that's neither here nor there. Give the show a listen; Scott and Jay's coverage of the first round of playoffs, and discussion of their picks for first and second rounds, is a titilating tête-à-tête of remarkable word-smithing. Ok, it's not, but check it out anyway!
Music, as usual, from music.podshow.com
Episode 19 brings DSP listeners complete playoff coverage. Jay and I break down the East and the West and our picks for the first round as well as a preview of which teams we believe will be in the conference finals. The Stars are healthy and are only without Zubov who hopes to be back before the end of the first round. Let us know your opinions of how each team will do including the Stars. Thanks for listening.
Episode 18 brings DSP listeners even more greatness since the Stars are 11-13 after dropping only 2 home games since the All Star Break. We are just 6 points behind Detroit after picking up 6 out of 8 points this past week with wins over Detroit, Edmunton and Nashville. The Stars have proven once again we have the offense, defense and goaltending to excel into the post season. A bit of news, great game recaps, career high stats for several players and great music on Episode 18.
Thanks again for listening!! Music from music.podshow.com: Miggs with I Believe & Miggs with Its Over.
Episode 17 quickly recaps the two Phoenix and on Anaheim games picking up 4 out of 6 points. Dead Wings are on their worst loosing streak since the 90s and Dallas keeps control of the West. Little news, stats, standings, recaps and even a highlight of Vancouver vs Edmonton game all wrapped up in a quick Episode 17.
Thanks again for listening!! Music from music.podshow.com: Air 5 with Heres Me Letting Go & Air 5 with I Wanna Go.
Episode 16 brings DSP listeners greatness since the Stars are 6-0 after dropping 2 home games prior to the All Star Break. Both Turco and Smitty have played phenominal in net and an offensive rush has kept the Stars in 1st place in the Pacific and 2nd overall in the league behind those Dead Wings who almost can't be stopped - just wait for the post season. Zubie still out, Boucher is skating, Lehtinen is back and has provided great depth. Little bits of news and the last 6 victories revisited all on Episode 16!
Thanks again for listening!! Music from music.podshow.com: American Heartbreak with Crawling & American Heartbreak with Raise Up Your Hands.
All Star break is upon us as Nisky and Ribs represent the Stars this year after Zubie is out due to a groin injury. Stars played 9 games in which we quickly cover gathering 4 wins, 4 losses and an OT loss. News, stats, opinions and music all covered in just our 15th episode of the season.
Thanks again for listening!! Music from music.podshow.com: Supernal with Colour Fades Away & The Deadline with So Loud.
Man, we have GOT to get a proper production staff so this stops happening. I (Jay) had the show ready but forgot to release it - but here it is, finally, Episode 14. A quick run down of ALL the games we have missed - some coverage of the more recent ones - and some news. All in all a great 70 minute show. Some major news happened that we covered: Tippet and Friends got extended; Ribiero is not only a superstar, but paid like it, and will be here another 5 years (I see an "A" on his shoulder in his future); and much much more. Also, the Stars found their way from middle-of-the-pack to 3rd in the league and they survived a 4 game slip-up to come out ahead on their series against the Wild.
All in all, who can complain right? Music from music.podshow.com: Jimmie Bratcher with Bad Religion & Sunspot with Don't Tell Me I Missed The War.
After much technical difficulty (and many MANY appologies for that from Jay) comes our 2nd Annual Christmas Show. We had 3 games to cover and a decent bit of news. No guests, but don't worry, Scott and Jay were able to be long-winded enough to make the show well over an hour, hopefully an entertaining well over an hour!.
The music, as usual, comes from music.podshow.com and, this being our Annual Christmas Show are some variations on two of Jay's favorite Christmas carols:
- O Come All Ye Faithful performed by Uncle Seth
- Carol of the Bells performed by Admiral Twin
Two weeks worth of games, news, stats leaves Scooter and The Wall a bit rusty but we get through it all and bring it to you in this episode. 6 game road trip was successful but the Stars are 0-2 on their home stand right now and look to bounce back. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening.
Special guests That Zany Lady and Darren The Dogfarmer Morely join us this week discussing everything from the 4 game winning streak to the Mo tribute night celebrating the best American born goal scorer and point leader. We also discuss who is out, who is leading the team and we even have a little fun with trades.
Shakeup in the organization takes a bit getting use to but the Stars take a step in the right direction. This of course after a disappointing 4-0 lead that was blown and after a 2 goal deficit was erased followed by a individual 4 goal scorer in the same game resulting in a 6-1 blowout. Games aren't all we talk about this week in Episode 10 as news, stats and Jays space fills in the 2nd hour long show of the season!
Music from music.podshow.com is Eleven Twenty-One and Paper of Plastic from Hand Honey.
After a week-long break, Scott & Jay get together and talk Hockey - a completely unedited show give us further hope for a live recording in the near future. We summarize games, review some league news, discuss Mikey Mo's new records and Jay gives his opinion on this "tipping point" of a road trip - at least he hopes it is.
The longest show of the season rings in over an hour long, music from music.podshow.com is Just Bring It On by HeadrusH.
Well, it looks like Tuesdays will become our official release, with the occasional Monday, going forward! This show was particularly ad-hoc as after the heartbreaking loss to San Jose Scooter & I decided to join Zany, Miss Kelly and a few fans at TGI Fridays for beer. We brought our recording equipment with us (yes, we now have a portable setup) and recorded a VERY strange show!
Our normal shoutouts our missing, but a quick one to the Brown family, just because Scott said we wouldn't, and now we have! Also, very special thanks to Miss Kitty & The Zany Lady from Texas-Hockey.com for making our first "live recorded" show a special one!
Music from http://music.podshow.com this week is by DesiredResponseTheory: Preach, Conspiracy & Hindsight!
After a disasterous week with our audio last week we make up for lost time by giving you a completely UNEDITED podcast - all the bloopers, all the f*ups, all the Scott & Jay you can handle (more, probably). This week we follow the Stars' 2-0-1 week, finally over 500, and watch them pounce the Ducks with what looks like a turn around in their play, we hope!
Music from http://music.podshow.com this week is Curious and Gary Adams - we hope you enjoy!
Audio problems fixed - podcast re-released.
Appologies for the late release, Jay decided to join me this time!! Thanks for tuning back into the DSP. This past week we went 1-1-1 and are in a 3 way tie for 1st place in the Pacific and just 2 points out of 1st for the Western Conference. Every team seems to be starting out slow this season and Jay and I discuss that along with the 3 games played this past week, Smitty's injury, Stephans emergency call up and a special birthday shoutout! Thanks for all your support.
In this homage Jay's teenage years through one of his favorite all-time albums, Scott & Jay discuss the Home Opener, the Season Opener and the final roster moves made coming up to the 3rd. A little news from around the league, something about the Stars Fanatics and announcements round out this 5th episode of the Dallas Stars Podcast.
Jay's intro modified from "Time to Relax", intro song "Nitro (Youth Energy)" and exit song "Not the One", all from Smash by Offspring, released 1994.
A bit longer show this time as The Wall is back in studio and we ramp up for the start of the new season. Pre-Season recap with the Stars going 4-2-1 with 30 goals, 2nd to Detroit. Roster moves, couple of lagging injuries, Hockey Fights Cancer - Oct. 10th, and Fantasy Hockey! Thanks for continuing to listening and supporting the Dallas Stars Podcast!!
After going 1-1-1 in the first three pre-season games, the Stars look pretty good on offense and a little shaky on defense. The Zany Sportslady joins Scooter this week as Jay is out of town and we discuss how the games looked, who is out, who is gone, who is still here fighting for roster spots and who we would like to fill those roster spots. For more on Zany, please visit Texas-Hockey.com.
Moving right along into Episode 2 where Jay and I talk about the jersey unveiling, traning camp kicked off this past Friday and we got a first hand look at the boys in action, fantasy hockey with DSP is going to happen and a bit of coverage on the Rookie Tournament that wrapped up this past Monday in Traverse City. Thanks for continuing to listening and supporting the Dallas Stars Podcast!!
Welcome to Season Three of the Dallas Stars Podcast. Thanks for continuing to listening and supporting the Dallas Stars Podcast!!
